Karter was a very active, smart and loving boy who enjoyed playing sports, attending school and family outings. Karter's love for the Oilers was only out matched by his love for his family, friends, pets and Hunter. We couldn't keep him out of the pool from a toddler right up to his final days he would want to be swimming. Karter would play basketball with his cousin, hockey in the living room, jumping on the trampoline in the back yard, diving in the pools since age 2, baseball with his team, soaks in the family hot tub and fighting in taekwondo class.

Karter was diagnosed with DIPG on July 26, 2022. He presented with partial face paralysis in the beginning of July 2022 and was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. His symptoms worsened to where he was losing his balance so severely that he was unable to walk. He was rushed to the emergency on July 25th 2022 and a CAT scan revealed a mass on his brain. An MRI on July 26th confirmed what would be our worst nightmare ... Karter had DIPG. We were devastated. Our hopes and dreams for our sweet little boy were crushed in a matter of minutes. His journey over the next year was heart-breaking and gut wrenching. To watch this horrible cancer rob our baby of his ability to walk then speak then move and swallow was more than any parent should ever experience. We lost our sweet little hero on July 23rd 2023.
